Hyundai Mobil Switch (2022)
Mobile switch modular platform design
"Mobile Switch" is a base platform and modular accessories that increase the product's versatility.
The project is designed to provide new user experience opportunities for diff
erent age groups with expendable mobility.



Duplicate consumption & Limited space and lots of mobility
- As young children grow rapidly, their mobility needs change. This results in overlapping consumption.
- It is difficult to purchase all the moving supplies you need within the limited space of your home.







Product solution

- Due to the nature of the module, it provides additional usability with a minimal 2-in-1 configuration,
  providing a better user experience.








Market research
- Among the product groups to be applied as modules, we investigated commercially available products and summarized the           steering and brake weight characteristics for each product group.







Competitive product interface analysis (Kid’s electric vehicles & Stroller modules)
- The rear trailer, which can be secured with a central strap, must be removed and atta-
   ched by hand, and the shoe will come into contact and cause the hand to become dirty.
​​​​​​- Momentary back-and-forth shaking when boarding the rear trailer.
- It is very cumbersome to operate the controller when wearing large glove-
  s, and it needs to be adjusted by slowing down or stopping along the way.






Wagon caster position test
- Uphill testing was conducted depending on the positions of the electric wheel and caster wheel.
If the caster was in the front, the wheel would rotate and not go up, or it might go up unstable.







User position settings (attached on the front handle)
- We created a mock-up considering the actual size to be used.
- When the handle is mounted on the front, it can be used as a base platform, stroller, or wagon.
- When the handle is attached to the rear, it can be used as a baby electric car or wagon trailer.
- It was designed to be able to stand on its own by simply folding the handle without a separate stand.

Drive & steering structure for each module
- Depending on the module configuration, the location, driving method, and driving direction of the handle change.
- In the case of infant electric vehicles, the steering wheel used by the guardian is given steering priority.

Built-in pop-up chair
The basic platform has a built-in pop-up chair, making it simple to use if you need a chair.







Change direction by adjusting the number of rotations
It is designed so that the user can turn at different rotation speeds of the left and right wheels when turning left or right.
When you pull the handle, the load cell converts the signal to control the force in the pulling direction.







Driving system using load cell
​​​​​​​It can be driven in the direction of the load applied by the user through four load cells located at the bottom of the handle.








In - Wheel Motor system
An in-wheel motor with an electric motor mounted inside the wheel was used to enable steering for each left and right wheel. Casters are used for manual steering.






Standing structure
Designed to allow self-standing after folding with the wagon module coupled to minimize volume during storage.







Door falling down
The wagon door can be lowered so the child can get in and out on their own.
